James Blake - Love What Happened Here EP - Love What Happened Here
[ Lie / Lay / Lying / Laying ]
I am. I am not. I was. I wasn’t. I can. I can’t. I will. // There was a time in my life when washing my car was an incredible ritual that took place every weekend. The sun would wake me on Saturday mornings and coax me out of bed. The house still silent with the dreams floating around the air of the second floor of the house. Shit, shower, and shave(shave sometimes, I got the little facial hair jeans), some eggs and coffee. The sun whispered through the windows for me to get out and get started already. My least favorite-favorite thing was the initial feeling of getting my feet wet when rinsing the car. She wasn’t much, first a used corolla, then a sundance (tragic death for one of Bambi’s siblings, and for that car as well) then an S10, then a Cavalier, in that order. No wax on or wax off like the K-Kid. Just a long rinse and a tough scrub, 45 minutes later an interior wipe down and vacuum. Car dry, sweat dripping down my temples and another layer of tan to my pre-existing skin tone I would hop in, tap the dirt and pebbles from my feet and shut the door. I always needed the right song for the ride, and rolling down the window meant streaks, but I did it anyway. If I were going to be feeling cool with the freshly washed mobile I had to let folks know what I was listening to. But in a small town there aren’t many walkers, everyone drives half a block for anything. It didn’t matter, volume cranked, track on repeat and me doing my best to sound as cool as whatever I was listening to. It worked every time. I haven’t washed my car in a year and a half. She’s got a different kind of class now. Stamina and experience. I call her Be. // Even the breeze knows. // Finding what you thought was lost. // THX CRS for this song.
